This session is structured to enable the individual to build up his confidence and speak in front of a crowd of people. Initially, the patients are a inhibited and afraid to stand in front of the other members of the house and speak. Over a period of time they develop the courage and confidence when they see senior members of the house speaking and then begin to participate in the session. Each patients is given a random topic to speak about.
This session is conducted to help the individuals to come out of their shell and sing. Inidially, the patients are shy to sing as some of them have never sung before an audience. Gradually, they build up their courage to participate in the session. The songs are mainly devotional songs (bhaki geet)f and during funtime we also have games life intakshari where favourate Bollywood songs are sung.
As the name suggests, this session is structured to encourage the individuals in treatment to work together in a team and together structure their thoughts on a given topic and put forward their ideas on a topic. This helps the patients to work as a team, disucss and choose the most appropriate strategy and defence and put it forward. It also helps the individuals to keep an open-mind and become willing to listen to the thoughts and ideas of other members of the team.
This is a very important component of our treatment module. By the time and addict / alcoholic comes into treatment they have a very low or no self-esteem and self-confidence. Time and time again they have been told that they are useless and their very action seem to confirm the same. In this session the patients are told to make a list of good points and work points in an individual and present this to him. It provides that person of a picture of how the people around percieve him and also exposes areas where he needs to work on.
Every evening the patients are given time to play chess, carrom and other games to help them to unwind and destress. This also helps them to interact amongst themselves and develop the ability to accept loss when it comes. Members of the staff team monitor the games and sometimes even play with the patients.
